Hat tip to Michael for the update on Martin's blog, but I felt this warranted a thread of its own. Here's how Martin closes out his March update:
"The main activity immediately after this [completion of the Dorothee Munyaneza album] is going to be starting work on a new ACSS recording for completion by the end of the year so that we can do extensive and meaningful touring next year. Needless to say I shall be ranting occasionally about this as it progresses ..."

This is turning out to be a great year for music! A new Jeff Buckley live album in June, a new Pete Yorn in June, and now ACSS in 2009 (if the project gets finished by the end of the year). This is just the news I've been waiting to hear for a while. _________________ Rise above it, and go on through to a land of sound magic |

Wow, I had almost given up hope! This is one bid of uplifting news, I hope they finally cash in their promise of a return visit to Australia.
I saw "Shooglenifty" last Sarurday in Katoomba (Australia), they are another great World Music act with a celtic (in their case Scottish) flavour, their latest album "Troots" is phantastic ! |

Simon said 'the Afro Celts are reforming' tonight (3-2-10) on the appalling Stuart & Maconie show( or somesuch) on BBC Radio 2. We got 3 good IV live tracks amidst those 2 prats prattling.
So thats both Martin AND Simon saying so! (Do I sound a bit desperate?)
I wonder if Simon is involved in the rebirthed ACSS?
He said very firmly, no more tours for the IV, so what else will he be up to? |

So, what exactly happened at the broadcast? Did ACSS perform?
Any news on the planned new ACSS album? |

No more tours for IV? Ever? Why?
The ACSS news is beyond awesome though. |

Ahh... as ever I didn't make myself clear - sorry.
No, the Afro Celts did not play, it was Simon's inspired retelling and reworking of English folk music - The Imagined Village (abbreviated to IV). They played live 3 tracks over the course of 90mins, I was moaning cos I had to put up with the presenters prattling, whilst I was waiting for the next track.
Simon made a point of saying that ACSS were reforming. No mention of when.
No further news on a new ACSS cd. Martin has had a birth in his family(congrats Martin).
Don, Simon said no more tours for the IV, but he didn't say no more tours ever again. Maybe nothing else planned?
Chris Wood said the IV were joke from the point of view of making money, he made more money playing solo.
I missed the IV tour cos they sold out, so I'm really hoping they'll be tempted to play Glasto or tour again.
The reports of this tour were good - a standing ovation at Northampton for example. |

| I have been made aware of the above and have bought our tickets for the Shrewsbury Folk Festival. I am so looking forward to seeing them again, what a lovely surprise that was. Looks like a nice festival. Just thought that some of you may wish to know this info before the tickets sell out, I gather that they do. |
